Huey (issue II)

new zine, and some books I liked

I have another comic book of Huey strips and pages for sale, this one I printed myself and is mostly in color. And 28 pages.

It’s $8 plus tax and shipping here

I got them printed at Best Value Copy and trimmed the edges and stapled them myself. Next time I think I will have a machine do that part.

Here are some recommendations of a few incredible comics and books I liked. I didn’t know comics could be an experience, and make you truly feel, like the best art and entertainment can.

Breakdowns by Art Spiegelman
-Groundbreaking even 45 years later. Formally innovative comics both fiction and non, from the author of Maus.

Rusty Brown by Chris Ware
-depicts a baby gaining consciousness, and gradually identifying noises as language, perfectly through the medium of comics. Then tracks this baby’s whole life. And that’s just one chapter in the middle.
I’ve enjoyed everything by Chris Ware. Not to totally obsess over the guy but I think about his work often and it is a constant source of inspiration.

Soft City by Hariton Pushwagner
-Incredible, unlike anything.

Fun Home by Alison Bechdel is classic, for good reason.

The Pits of Hell by Yoshikazu Ebisu.

The Flick by Annie Baker
-This is a play and not a comic. It’s maybe my favorite play. And works very well on the page, unlike a lot of plays. About the employees of a movie theatre and the transfer of film to digital. A really funny drama. (Drama is often funnier than comedy, or has funnier spikes.)

I really enjoyed these books:

Music for Chameleons by Truman Capote
Seibo There Below by László Krasznahorkai
